‘Est-ce que tu regardes quelque chose d’intéressant à la télé ?’

“Are you watching anything interesting on TV?”

It’s holiday season, a time of year when we might discuss a film or TV series we’ve seen. That’s the subject of our conversation this time.

First, let’s talk about a French production called ‘Spiral’.

  • quelque chose d’intéressant (something interesting)
  • prenant (gripping, compelling)
  • se passer de [qqc] (to do without [s.t.])
  • déclencher (to set off, to trigger)
  • au fur et à mesure que (as)
  • les ‘gentils’ (the ‘goodies’)
  • les ‘méchants’ (the ‘baddies’)
  • de toute évidence (quite obviously)
  • franchir (to surmount, to get over)
  • dénicher (to unearth, to root out)
  • faire une entorse au règlement (to bend the rules)
  • se focaliser sur (to focus on)
  • glaner (to glean)
